5th World Cup of Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani Begins in India with Iran Taking the Lead

According to the Public Relations Office of the International Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani Federation, the 5th World Cup of Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani officially commenced today, 22 December, in India, with the participation of teams from seven countries.

The competing nations include Iran, Iraq, Belarus, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Uganda, Tanzania, and the host nation, India. Athletes are competing across various disciplines of Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani throughout the tournament.

The Team Zurkhaneh competition was held on the opening day, where Iran delivered a dominant performance, securing first place with 745 points. Iraq finished second with 372 points, followed closely by the Republic of Azerbaijan in third place with 364 points.

The remaining team standings were as follows:

  • Uganda – 314 points
  • Tanzania – 241 points
  • Belarus – 216 points
  • India – 192 points

According to the competition schedule, the individual Zurkhaneh events will take place later today, while the Koshti Pahlavani (Traditional Wrestling) competitions will be held on the following day, continuing the exciting program of the 5th World Cup of Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani.
